Wrapping up in SD...for now

Just another step for this travel nurse. I'm looking forward to my move to the bay area, but it's been hard to close this chapter in San Diego. I've made such amazing friends. In the past couple of weeks since I found out that I finally got an offer, I've worked my butt off, packed up my stuff and many memories, and had a few farewell parties.

I appreciate my salsa gang for hanging out and feeding me. I'm gonna miss you guys. San Francisco Salsa Congress is soon so I'll see some of you there and we can dance agin. I don't think the dancing in San Jose will be nearly as good and I say that because you guys are truly the best!! Brian, I'm glad to have had time to hang out, grab some hot beverages and buy a car with you! You da bomb!

Thanks guys for coming to my BBQ. For the little space that I have to entertain, we had tons of fun. And I cooked up some mean burgers n veggies. Big thanks to my girls Anne, Julia, Angie and Jill...SD would never be the same without you beautiful, intelligent and amazing women. Special thanks to Shawn and Matt for hanging with me that last night. Shawn you are a great beer pong partner. We rocked at Fiesta's dirty Jenga...only in Hilcrest! Kelly, I love you angel. I'll be back soon. And I will never forget, but secretly want to, my karaoke experience. Matt, you suck for not joining in the humiliation, but I adore you anyway.
I feel a tremendous amount of love from my San Diegians. I'm gonna miss you but I will see you again soon.

What an amazing day with my dance team. Ooh La La had an awesome time. It was our debut performance of Mambo Italiano. Hot Tamales Amateur Team, I love you guys.

September already

Dear Lord! It's already September! Well summer went to shit again in SD, clouds and cool weather. Surfing motivation has chilled out with it! Last month, maybe, in San Diego. I'm still waiting to hear from my agency about work in San Francisco and surrounding areas. If nothing pops up soon, I may have to extend another month in SD. We shall see. I'm so ready for the next destination though! Everybody, positive thoughts and energy for me to go to SF!!!

Patience, I just need to practice patience.

Shenanigans

Oh what a day of debauchery yesterday was! Alex, my dear girlfriend, got us VIP tickets to the Padres vs Phillies baseball game. (Check...saw a padres game while in SD) Ok, I understand the no buying booze after the 7th but come on!!! That fruit yarder is delicious and so not alcohol flavored!!! :) Jeff was a Padres fan and Alex was for the Phillies so t was a riot listening to them go at each other!




We stumbled over to the hard Rock Hotel to meet some friends. Wasn't expecting this as being part of my day but loved it! There was a kickass DJ was spinning on the rooftop. Loved the atmosphere...bikinis, hotties, dancing and bars! Oops, didn't bring a suit though! Well, my mom always said 'make sure you have nice clean undies on, cuz you never know what'll happen.' Good thing I still listen to that advise! My undies almost cover more than bathing suit does, so that's what I wore!!! So much fun!!! Jeff you rock! Had a blast with you and Alex!




Next was stuff our drunk faces with grub at the Strip Club, an okay steak place. For that money, they could have cooked the meat themselves really! That might be a cool aspect to do it yourself at a restaurant but really, drunk people shouldn't be that responsible for raw meat!! We met the SF firemen and cops there too! Alex, you have awesome connections!

The night of fun n craziness finished off at club Voyeur! Like I couldn't get enough of dancing!!! So much fun and the SF finest were such gentlemen. Thanks guys!!!

The ultimate end to the evening was a Roberto's burrito! Yum! Eric & Alex I don't know how you finished yours. Mine was breakfast the next day!!

LEGOLAND

I love it when my brother and his family come into town! Of course the weather decided that it didn't want to be completely sunny for us as we froze our butts off in the shade at the Legoland water park. We had fun though! My niece was shooshing me often. I guess she was embarrassed of her auntie that felt the need to sing out loud and laugh and jump around. Colin thought I was funny! ;0)

Swami's and the races

My friend Anu and I went to Swami's Meditation Garden. What a great experience. Thanks Anu for the enlightened talk. I feel so much lighter after our time there.

Meditation is so vital in my life. It's my 'me' time.

:) Then I followed that experience with an afternoon at the Del Mar Racetrack. LOL!! Yelling at horses that you see for maybe 10 seconds and then watch the monitor the rest of the time is pretty funny. Such a great people-watching opportunity. Thanks Jill, Anne, and Julia for making me laugh!

Houston Part 2

Due to my lovely flight being overbooked and I was standby, I wasn't able to meet with anyone! True, I was only in town for a full day but I was anticipating a day and a half. Congrats to Phaedra and Corey who started their first day at school. Devon too, but you're in high school and I'm not thinking you're so excited about that! Thank you Mica and Papa Dan for being my chauffeurs to/from the airport. Well I was the chauffeur driving to the airport to myself off and this is what was going on in the backseat!!!

You can't take them anywhere sometimes!!!

Houston Part 1

I had a nice and quick visit in Houston. Most of my business was taken care of so that's a relief. I'll be returning next week to finish up some business. I wish there was more time in the day so I could fit all my sweet friends in. Thanks Amber, Marcy, Marna, Amy, the Ehlers and my fam for making time for me! And of course, I cannot go too many days without dancing. Went to Club Mango for the first time and I do like the place which is very clean and has a nice dance floor.







The Texas heat was wild! It's amazing what you get used to on the coast. Fresh air and a cool breeze and in Houston it's choking humidity and instant sweat! Lol!

I loved spending time with the family too. My sis in law cracks me up. I was really happy to have been with my family cause we were all together and able to support each other while we waiting to hear news after my younger brother and family were involved in a car accident. Everyone is safe and ok, just a little sore. I can't imagine though people who don't have faith in something. I don't care which God one looks to, I just hope there is something to look towards. I don't know how'd I be able to sleep or function without my faith.

Anyway, I'm flying back to San Diego soon, hopefully. Flight has been delayed yet again. But I've had time to load up the few pics I took and play online.

Finally the sun has come out!!

For once, I agree with the weatherman! July Lie indeed. May haze, yep and June Gloom, oh yeah, and July Summer, not at all! Lies! All lies!! The first weekend is when the sun finally came out to play. The suntan lotion has been slathered on and beach towels have been laid out! The long board rests next to me with the wet suit laid over it, ready to go! My mom says I'm officially her coco baby! Yeah! I love the sun and the beach. Can I just become a beach bum? Ahhhhhhh!

Surf Diva

I love my long board. He's an amazing ride! Oh, to straddle him...hmmm. Oh, ehm ehm! My surf board is da bomb!
I try to hit the waves as much as I can. I've thus far caught only a couple of waves where I stood for more than 5 seconds. One was witnessed by friends as I rode the wave all the way in. Yeah, I rock!!!

Mama Shay does San Diego

"Oh my Lawd, dis is gawgeous!!!" My mother yells out as we look over the landscaped view of San Diego from Mount Soledad.

Her fun filled days were of the drag show at Lips Theater! A little fun time with a few Mai Tais at Fiesta Cantina and Mr. Kenny!!! I can't believe I drunk deleted that photo. Mama loves her some chocolate!!! Then we hit Pacific Beach and La Jolla Cove. Mom enjoyed herself at Temecula's Wilson Creek Winery. And of course, the big event was Mom's tattoo!!! Yes, my ## year old mother got herself a beautiful tat! She rocks!!!

Birthday weekend

I didn't get a chance to go to Cabo since my friends decided to save cash. The alternative plan was fun times in Pacific Beach. Oh my oh my, what fun was had!!!

We hit a Brazilian steakhouse downtown San Diego, Rei do Gado. So good! Then of course there was a bit of Whiskey Girl fun! Next day it was a lil of Open Bar where I walked around taking pics of all the young prospects, and then SALSA!!!! Can a girl be happier!!
